Government Create Fund For Unemployed Women

The government will implement a project at a cost of Taka 114 crore aimed at making the unemployed women self-reliant through training.

Under the project named ‘Empowerment of Women Through Technology Transfer”, training will be given to the poor and unemployed women of every upazila.

State Minister for Women and Children Meher Afroz today said this while replying to a question of treasury bench member Nrunnabi Chowdhury in parliament.

On another question, the state minister said a total of 1678 sewing machines have been bought at a cost of Taka 1.50 crore for the 2013- 2014 fiscal year. “The machines will be distributed
soon,” she added.

Besides, she said, the ministry has undertaken a five-year project titled ‘Enabling Environment for Child Rights (EECR)’ with the financial help of UNICEF at a cost of Taka 318 crore 40 lakh 22,000 for the welfare of women and children.
