Indian Foreign Minister Sushama Swaraj will visit Dhaka on June 26, according to sources in the Foreign ministry.
During the visit Sushama Swaraj will hand over a letter of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inviting her to visit India.
Prior to the last elections, BJP leader Sushama Swaraj was the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha. Before that she was minister for information and broadcasting in the Atal Bihari Bajpai cabinet.
Sushama Swaraj has taken the charge of the foreign ministry at a time when there are a number of unresolved issues between Bangladesh and India which need to be resolved urgently.
The Congress government had moved ahead to sign Teesta Water Sharing Deal and implement Land Boundary Agreement, but did not succeed ultimately. Modi Government has indicated that it would give importance on these two issues.
