Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Begum Khaleda Zia deposited her red passport at the Department of Immigration and Passports at Agargaon in the capital on Thursday afternoon. Depositing her red passport, Khaleda Zia applied for a green machine readable passport (MRP) at about 5pm.
She left for Agargaon Passport Office at 4.20pm from her Gulshan residence on Thursday and reached there at 4.38pm. Later, she left Agargaon Passport Office for her Gulshan residence at 5.07 pm.
After leaving the Agargaon Passport Office, the chairperson’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel told journalists that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia had used red passport as the prime minister and leader of the opposition for a long time. “She went to submit her red passport in person as she doesn’t hold any official post now,” he said.
